Jiyane, Mvemve
Jiyane was born in Mofolo, Soweto, in 1960. From a very young ago his talent for drawings and sketches became noted. His primary school teachers would ask him to draw on the blackboard illustrations that they needed fort heir lessons. Coming from a large family - there was insufficient money to keep him at school. He left standard 8 to look for work in Johannesburg. He enrolled in the Fuba Art School in Newton where he trained in different painting media and in sculpting. In the 1980's he participated in various group exhibitions with Peter Sibeko, Hargreaves Ntukwana, Godfrey Ndaba and David Mbele. His work has been bought by art lovers both locally and overseas. His work can also be found in the Fort Hare museum and art gallery.
