Mahlangu, Speelman
Born in 1958, Katlehong Township, South Africa Studied under Rose Shakenovsky and Stanley Nkosi at Katlehong Art Centre As a sculptor he works in clay, bronze and wood. As a painter he works in oil, acrylic, ink, pencil, charcoal and mixed media. Mahlangu’s imagination is typically African and his work exhibits a dreamy world rooted in Ndebele tribal myths. His symbols and patterns stem from Ndebele murals and Egyptian hieroglyphics. His work has been exhibited in Israel, South Africa and in Germany.
