Mutombo, C
The artist is a self-taught, from the Congo and his works were exhibited in a well known London gallery. The works are all executed in a style similar to what is sometimes called the Zaire School of Popular Painting. These works are painted on canvas, often with a limited palette of poster paints and with thick brushes. The artist is apparently from painters around Lubumbashi, in the south. This type of works were made for a local audience and were mostly sold to local people and local clientele.
