Rare paintings of great wildlife artist. Mike Elliott was born in England in 1949. He spent few decades of his life in South Africa. As a result - his work and paintings are highly influenced by his fascination with the wildlife of South Africa and its people. The essence of it is captured on his canvases and drawings. He was highly inspired by the African bushes and their famed hunters - the Bushmen. Kalahari Desert ‘intoxicated’ him. His works have always embodied the in-depth emotions and feelings of people and places. Mike Elliot is a self-taught artist. After returning to Scotland he was drawn towards the flora and fauna of this diverse place, its landscapes and rich culture. Moreover, Scotland's history, artists and industry provided entirely a new dimensions to his work, coupled with the use of different mediums. Elliott loves to work on different and varied subjects. He would continuously switch on and off from Scotland to Africa. Indeed, working on African wildlife would be a welcoming change for him. It was just like feeding his soul with something entertaining and exciting. Mike makes use of pencil, watercolors, oils and acrylic in his work in order to bring inviting effects for eyes. His pictures and work are, actually, a subtle blend of watercolor paintings and pencil drawing. Moreover, his creation looks more than a visual creation. Many of Mike's paintings can be found in corporate collections such as First National Bank Headquarters, Siemens and Mannesman’s in Johannesburg and Mercedes Benz in Pretoria. Wits University, University of Cape Town, South African Embassies abroad also contain some of his popular and famous works. Other than corporate collections, Mike Elliott's work is also part of the private collections that are scattered over 25 countries.
